Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) Reports

The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) of 2001, requires the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) to make a determination of Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for every school district in the state. CDE calculates AYP for each district by measuring CSAP participation rates, math and reading performance, and graduation rate targets for the elementary, middle and high school levels. Additionally, districts are responsible for all subgroups of students (Race, Ethnicity, English Language Learners, Economically Disadvantaged Students, and Students with Disabilities) if there are thirty or more students in the subgroup at a specific grade level.

Each individual school in the Cheyenne Mountain District achieved all identified AYP goals/targets in 2007. The District, overall, made 106 of 107 eligible targets. At the District elementary level, Students with Disabilities, as a group, failed to meet achievement goals in reading and math for two consecutive years. According to law, federal monies must be set aside to target District improvement plans for this group of students in math. The district will be developing this plan collaboratively with staff and parents.
