Cheyenne Mountain Values the Arts

"Stimulate creativity, self-expression, and the discovery
of individual talents and abilities..."

The findings are significant. Students who study and experience the arts have significantly higher grades in English, history and geography; score better on standardized tests; are three times less likely to drop out of school and are more likely to perform community service. In longitudinal studies it has been found that students who participate in the arts are four times as likely to be recognized for academic achievement, four times as likely to participate in math and science fairs, four times likely to win an award for writing, and three times as likely to win awards for class attendance. Cheyenne Mountain students have access to visual and dramatic arts, general music, and instrumental music with fully trained, state endorsed teaching staff K-12.

Cheyenne Mountain School District has been selected as one of the best 100 communities in America for excellence in music education by the American Music Conference, as a result of a nationwide internet survey. This award recognizes outstanding music programs and their community support.
