Community Citizenship Group

Skyway Second Grade teacher, Mrs. Anne Cross, and her daughter, Elaine, created a Community Citizenship Group to teach students how to make a difference in their world.  On Thursday, November 9, the Community Citizenship Group wrote letters to support Operation Gratitude, an organization that sends care  packages to support our deployed military members.  Included in these packages are letters written by people all over the country thanking our military members for their service.  Mrs. Cross' Community Citizenship Group spent their club time on Thursday discussing the large military presence in and around Colorado Springs, as well as the importance of the work  and contributions of both our active-duty military personnel and our retired military veterans.   They learned about Operation Gratitude, and they all wrote letters to be included in care packages.

Skyway Elementary is extremely grateful for all of our military veterans and active-duty members, and we are incredibly proud of the work that Mrs. Cross, Elaine, and their Community Citizenship Group are doing to make a difference.  We are certain that our students' letters will bring smiles to those deployed military members who receive their letters!
