a letter from the superintendent

August 1, 2025

Dear Cheyenne Mountain School District 12 Families and Community Members,

As we prepare to begin the 2025-26 school year, I want to take a moment to extend my warmest welcome to all who call Cheyenne Mountain home. Whether your connection to our schools is through your children, your neighbors, or your steadfast support of public education, we are grateful for the trust you place in us and proud to serve such an engaged and caring community.

This year, we enter with a renewed sense of focus and unity. Over the past several months, our students, staff, and community members have come together to reflect on who we are as a District, what we value, and where we are headed. These important conversations have helped shape a shared purpose that will guide our efforts in the coming years. We look forward to launching this work with our staff at the start of the school year and sharing more with our families and community soon thereafter.

While our aspirations continue to evolve, our commitments remain clear and unwavering. We will continue to provide an exceptional educational experience rooted in academic excellence and engaging instruction. We will support the wellbeing of our students and staff, recognizing that a sense of belonging, connection, and care is essential for meaningful growth and learning. Moreover, we will remain steadfast in our efforts to create safe, secure learning environments where everyone can thrive - physically, socially, and emotionally.

These commitments come to life each day in our classrooms, on our stages, and across our fields. Whether through rigorous academic opportunities, outstanding arts programs, or competitive athletic experiences, our schools reflect a tradition of excellence and a deep belief in the potential of every student to succeed in their own unique way.

To those families returning for another year, thank you for your continued partnership. To those joining us for the first time, welcome. You are now a part of a community that takes great pride in its legacy and looks to the future with optimism and resolve.

Here’s to a successful and inspiring school year ahead!

My best,

David
