Cheyenne Mountain School District is "Accredited with Distinction," the highest accreditation ranking possible, by the Colorado Department of Education. Among school districts with more than 2,000 students, CMSD is the highest ranked school district in Colorado.
On average, nearly 90% of Cheyenne Mountain School District graduates attend colleges and universities. Cheyenne Mountain High School is also consistently among the top 1% Colorado high schools in preparing college freshman for success as reported by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education.
100% of English Language Learning (limited English proficiency) students met their annual measurable academic outcomes as measured by the Colorado Department of Education.

The READ Act
The Colorado Reading to Ensure Academic Development Act (the READ Act), passed by the Colorado Legislature in 2012, focuses on early literacy development for all students and especially for students at risk for not achieving third grade reading proficiency.
The READ Act focuses on kindergarten through third grade (K-3) literacy development, literacy assessment and individual READ plans for students identified with a significant reading deficiency.

Graduation Requirements
Students at Cheyenne Mountain High School are required to earn a minimum of 48 credits (see content area requirements below) and demonstrate they are college and career ready based on criteria established by Colorado Department of Education.
Any coursework completed prior to a student's freshman year (including any on-line, correspondence, and summer school coursework following the eighth grade year) will not be allowed for high school credit, will not be used in the calculation of GPA, and will not be posted to the Cheyenne Mountain High School transcript.
1 Credit = 1 Semester of Work;
2 Credits = 1 Year of Work
